ARRIVING AT MISSION POINT RESORT

Traveling to Mission Point Resort is not easy to say the least; there are many modes of transport you may have to take in order to arrive here. However, our aim is to make it as easy as possible for you!

Many of our employees arrive from another state or country and therefore there are many options that can be taken to arrive to Mackinac Island and Mission Point Resort. Listed below are the variety of options you have depending on how much you want to spend in dollars and time! Please ensure however that you arrive on Mackinac Island with enough time to reach Mission Point before 4.00pm on the arrival date specified by Human Resources.

Pellston:
The closest airport to Mackinac Island is Pellston. It is only 15 miles from the Island. Please note however the flight will be more expensive and the planes only run from Detroit through Northwest Airlines.
Depending upon the time you arrive in Pellston will determine whether you need to spend the night, if so there is a hotel directly across from the airport called the Pellston Lodge. Their contact details are as follows:
Phone: 231-539-7000 (in the USA)
Website: www.pellstonlodge.com
To reach Mackinac Island from the Pellston please contact Wolverine Stages for a short taxi ride to one of the ferry lines (please see below) this will cost around $20 - $40. They are located directly inside the airport or your hotel can call them for you:
Phone: 1-800-825-1450 (in the USA)
Website: www.wolverinestages.com

Detroit:
If you choose to fly into Detroit, this will be the closest you will get for the better price. However you will have to take into consideration the expense for a hotel and the bus to arrive to the Island. For smaller groups of students you will need to take the greyhound bus to St Ignace from Detroit:
Phone: 1-800-231-2222 (in the USA)
Website: www.greyhound.com
For groups of 10 and over, Wolverine Stages may have a quicker and possibly cheaper option to get you from Detroit to Mackinaw City or St Ignace.

New York or Chicago:
Many overseas employees opt to fly into New York or Chicago to see the sights first and then travel to Mackinac Island. From here you can either look into flights to Pellston via Detroit, or take the Greyhound bus to St. Ignace. Please note travelling by bus from New York is at least 24 hours.

Ferry to the Island:
There are two small towns which allow you to take a ferry to Mackinac Island. On the lower side of the Mackinac Bridge, Mackinaw City is located, on the north side of the Mackinac Bridge, St. Ignace is located. Please take either a bus or taxi to one of these locations. If you need to spend the night in one of these towns we would recommend one of these hotels:
St. Ignace: The Quality Inn (Next to the Greyhound station. The hotel will be able to contact the ferry line the following morning to arrange transportation to the dock).
Phone: 906-643-9700(in the USA)
Mackinaw City: The Courtyard Inn & Suites (Short walk to the ferry dock)
Phone: 1-800-978-5520
Website: www.courtyardinnmackinaw.com
There are three ferry lines, all competitive in price. We however recommend for you to take the Sheplers ferry line. Mission Point Resort works very closely with Sheplers and it is easy for your luggage to be transported to Mission Point Resort from this ferry line.
Once you arrive at Sheplers, an attendant will take care of your luggage for you and it will be transported directly to Mission Point, where you can collect it from the Bellstand.
The ferry charge is approximately $25.00. Please visit: www.sheplersferry.com

Arrival at Mission Point Resort:
Once departing the ferry dock, you have two choices to reach Mission Point. The first is to walk, it is only about a 10 minute walk through town and if the weather is good it’s well worth it, as your luggage will be transported for you. Your other option is to take the Mission Point shuttle (horse and buggy) which will pick you up from the ferry dock, where the charge is about $5.00.
If walking is your choice, please take a right after departing the ferry at street level. You will need to walk through town and past St Anne’s Church. Mission Point will be located shortly after this on your right hand side. Please go straight to the front desk where an agent will direct you to Human Resources.

Things to remember:
• Think about whether you would like to do some sightseeing in larger cities before you arrive at Mission Point Resort. You will need to take this into consideration before booking your flight.
• Your travel really depends on how much and how long you want to spend in travelling time.
• Research carefully into each option, as the extra airfare to fly into Pellston may be cheaper than incurring the extra expense of hotel rooms.
