Senior Sales Manager - Association Markets
Debbie has represented and sold Mission Point Resort for over 7 years.Her target market is Association in state, regional and national.Since graduating from Michigan State University in 1996, she has built her career in hospitality by communicating openly and honestly and being reliable to those who depend on her. Her success also comes from her love of Mission Point Resort, Mackinac Island and all of the peace, beauty and fun that is experienced there.
She dedicates herself to staying educated so she can best help her association clients.As a Past President and current Vice President of Education for Meeting Professionals International, Michigan Chapter (MMPI), Debbie Denyer is always on the cutting edge of meeting and conference trends.Additionally, she is a facilitator of the Essential Elements of Meeting Professionals (EEMP) course, which is a course to help prepare those who wish to sit for the Certified Meeting Professional, (CMP) exam.
Her motto is, "the harder you work, the luckier you get" as its proven to be true.Debbie resides in the Metro Detroit area.She has a wonderful husband & two young children, Ellen and Ryan.She also has a love for her black labs, Otis and Lilly.
Nicole Nation, CMP
Senior Sales Manager - SMERF Markets
In 2012, Mission Point resort welcomed back Nicole Nation! Nicole worked for Mission Point from 2002 to 2006 managing the corporate market. Currently, Nicole is responsible for our SMERF and Government markets.
Nicole’s hospitality experience includes an internship at Disney World where she helped to open the Grand Floridian and worked at the Front Desk of Fort Wilderness. Most recently, Nicole managed the education, transient and SMERF accounts at the Athenium Suite Hotel and Conference Center, a luxury hotel property in downtown Detroit. Nicole is a Certified Meeting Professional (CMP) with a real estate license and a Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality from Ferris State.
Nicole is very family-oriented, enjoying time with her teenage daughter and her large extended family. Nicole and her husband also spend time watching her daughter play basketball and French Horn.
Nicole enjoys working with the Mission Point team. "The team work is demonstrated every day and makes me feel like I am part of something special.” About Mackinac Island and Mission Point Nicole says, “One of the prettiest sites I have ever seen was facing the water at Mission Point in January. There was a full moon and the sky was bright midnight blue. I could see large ice drifting in the water and the snow drifts on land were probably twelve feet in some areas. As I looked out to take in all this wonder a part of this beauty stayed with me and keeps me excited to play a role in helping other people to have their own breathtaking moments and making their own memories at the resort. I love Mackinac Island."
Leah Pierce, CMP
National Sales Manager - Corporate Markets
Leah is the newest member of our team, handling the Corporate and Incentive market segments. She joined the Mission Point Resort sales team in March of 2015. Leah handles our corporate sales. Her past experience includes working for BOYNE Resorts for 13+ years as a National Sales Manager. Leah received her certification as a Certified Meeting Professional in January of 2014.
Leah has brought her enthusiasm for sales along with her outdoor active lifestyle to the Mission Point family. She enjoys a multitude of activities including skiing, snowshoeing, kayaking, hiking, biking and going for runs with her Great Dane and Yellow Lab. Leah is excited for the opportunity to strengthen old relationships and create new, while representing our fabulous resort. With her dedication, customer service and knowledge, we know that she will make Mission Point proud. Leah has lived in northern Michigan for 20+ years and enjoys spending time with her friends along with boyfriend Jared and his daughter Addison.

Director of Sales, Marketing, and Revenue
Stephen Merriman leads all sales related activities at Mission Point. He first begain working with Mission Point Resort in 2010 as part of a multi-property leadership role where he was leading all marketing and revenue management functions for Mission Point Resort as well as The Chanler at Cliff Walk and La Farge Perry House in Newport, Rhode Island. He left the hotel side of the Hospitality Industry for a short time in 2013 and 2014. In January of 2015, Mission Point Resort was delighted to bring him back to lead the Sales, Marketing, and Reservations departments of the resort.
Prior to his work at Mission Point, Stephen was the Director of Marketing at a Four Star/Four Diamond golf resort in Orlando, Florida. He is native to Pittsburgh Pennsylvania where he attended the University of Pittsburgh.
Stephen is proud to be part of the Mission Point Resort team. "Mission Point Resort has put together an award winning team, and I am delighted to be part of this family. This is an exciting time for Mission Point with the many investments and upgrades that are in store for returning groups and guests in 2015 and for years to come," he says.
