What is the best way to get to Mackinac Island?

Mackinac Island is accessible by ferry boat or airplane. The most popular way to get to Mackinac Island is by ferry.

How does ferry service and luggage transport work?

Ferry service from the mainland is available in Mackinaw City and St. Ignace through Shepler's Ferry or Star Line Mackinac Ferry. Please note that if you booked a package that includes ferry tickets, your tickets will be available at Shepler's will call.

Before you cross the water to the island, you will be asked which hotel you are staying at. Tell the porters Mission Point and your luggage will be tagged and transferred directly to the hotel. You'll receive one luggage tag per bag. Upon check-in, you will present these luggage tags to the front desk. This will ensure that your luggage gets to the correct room. Please keep any items that you may need, such as medication, on your person.

How do I get to the resort once I have arrived on the island?

Guests have the choice to walk to Mission Point or take the hotel shuttle operated by Mackinac Island Carriage Tours. This shuttle runs on a set schedule for guests once they arrive on the island and does cost $7.00 per adult. Please note that prices are subject to change at the discretion of Mackinac Island Carriage Tours. The short 15-minute walk from the ferry docks to Mission Point Resort is a beautiful as you pass by Fort Mackinac, the island marina, and the Mission District residential area. Whichever option you choose, you will get a feel for life on Mackinac Island.

How do I arrange for a taxi?

Horse-drawn taxi service is provided by Mackinac Island Carriage Tours and is available 24/7 during the summer season. Taxis cannot be "hailed" on Mackinac Island and reservations can be made by calling the taxi dispatch office at (906) 847-3323 or contacting the Mission Point Concierge at (906) 847-3007. Please note that taxi drivers only accept cash. ATMs are available at in the Mission Point lobby, the taxi stand downtown and at the Island banks.

Is Mission Point in town?

Mission Point is located approximately 3/4 mile from downtown Mackinac Island, at the east end of the Mission District. It is a 15-minute walk to get to Mission Point from the ferry docks.

Does Mission Point allow dogs?

Mission Point loves dogs - of course! There are a number of rooms in the Straits Lodge which are dog friendly. We do require that all dogs are arranged in advance by calling (800) 833-7711. A one-time, non-refundable additional cleaning fee of $100.00 is charged. Please see our policies and FAQ here.

How does the Kids Eat Free program work?

Kids under 12 eat free off of the kid's menu at Round Island Kitchen and Bistro on The Greens. Children do need to be accompanied by an adult ordering off our regular menu. Chianti, Boxwood Coffeeshop & Café, Strait UP Coffee and Lily's Lemonade do not have kids menus and this program does not apply to these outlets.

Where is check-in?

Check-in is located in the Main Lodge lobby.

What time is check in and check out?

Check in time is at 4:00 pm. Check out time is at 11:00 am.

Is smoking permitted in rooms?

In accordance with Michigan State Law, the use of tobacco products are strictly prohibited in all indoor and outdoor guest areas, including guest rooms. The use of medical and recreational marijuana is strictly prohibited at Mission Point as well. A $250.00 recovery fee per incident will be applied to your guest folio for smoking of any kind in your guest room. For your convenience, there are smoking receptacles in various locations around the property. Please help us keep the resort clean.

Can I bring my own bike?

Yes, you can bring your own bike. The ferry companies do charge a nominal fee for transporting a bike to the island. We suggest you bring a bike lock. Several bike rental racks are located throughout the resort.

How do I arrange for my luggage to be transported back to the mainland dock?

When you're ready for your luggage to be picked up, please call the bellstand by dialing 3032 from your guest room and one of our bellmen will pick up and tag your luggage for transportation back to the mainland. Similar to the arrival process, you will be receive one luggage tag per bag. Our team will ensure that your luggage is transferred back to the appropriate mainland dock, where it will be held in a secure location to be picked up when you get off the ferry. We do kindly request at least a 2-hour window for the transfer in order to ensure your luggage is at the dock when you arrive on the mainland. Please keep any items that you may need, such as medication, on your person.

What do I need to know before booking a package?

Package prices are based on the number of adults and children staying in each guest room. When booking online please ensure the total number of guests is correctly displayed before booking. Nightly rates are subject to change should the number of guests at arrival differ from what is initially reserved. Our packages require a two-night minimum stay unless otherwise noted.

All rates are subject to applicable taxes and resort levy which totals 19%. Baggage fees are also not included at $6.00 per adult plus tax. A number of packages are subject to availability and dates may close at any time. Advance reservations are required and no refunds will be given on unused portions of package inclusions. Packages are not available in conjunction with other discounts, group bookings, or during special events.

A deposit of one night's stay price is required at the time of booking for each room reservation. Reservations may be canceled 48 hours prior to arrival for a full refund of the deposit amount; please note there is a $50.00 cancellation fee. All reservations are also subject to our standard booking policies.

If you have lost or left something behind at Mission Point, kindly call (906) 847-3027 or email lostandfound@missionpoint.com and we will do our best to assist and return the missing item(s).

Do you have onsite security or medical personnel?

Mission Point has 24-hour on site security. All security staff members are CPR & AED certified, HIPAA Combined Compliant, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogen certified, and COVID-19 trained. Despite our no-car community, full emergency vehicles and services are still available on Mackinac Island.
